See the fanciful Belem Tower, Jeronimos Monastery, dedicated to the Virgin Mary, the Monument to the Discoveries and (time permitting) the Basilica of St. Anthony. Continue to Fatima with a stop in Santarem to take in the Miracle of the Bleeding Host. In Fatima, on the evenings it is available, join in the moving Candlelight Rosary Procession beginning in the Chapel of the Apparitions (Capelinha). Overnight in Fatima. (D) | | Day 3 | Fatima | Fatima : We visit the Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima, starting at the pristine Basilica, with the tombs of Jacinta and Francisco, beatified in 2000, and Sr. Lucia. Continue to the Capelinha, where Our Lady appeared to the shepherd children. Light a candle near the shrine, walk the lovely grounds or shop for religious articles nearby. After dinner we can once again experience the Rosary Candlelight Procession. Overnight in Fatima. (B, D) | | Day 4 | Fatima | Fatima : This morning discover the hamlet of Aljustrel, the shepherd children's home. Continue to Valinhos, where Our Lady appeared after the children's release from prison. Visit the church where they were baptized and the local cemetery. Take some time for private devotions before a video presentation on the history of Fatima. Later participate in the Rosary and the Candlelight Procession. Overnight in Fatima. (B, D) | | Day 5 | Lourdes | Lourdes : After breakfast we depart for the airport for our flight to Toulouse airport and transfer to Lourdes, where in 1858 Our Lady appeared to the 14-year-old Bernadette Soubirous. In the afternoon, participate in a walking tour of this beloved Shrine, including the three distinctive Basilicas. Later view a video presentation relating the story of Lourdes. Dinner and overnight in Lourdes. (D) | | Day 6 | Lourdes | Lourdes : After Mass this morning, we are free for personal devotions. Take the opportunity to experience the "Miraculous Baths." In the afternoon, we have a walking tour tracing the life of St. Bernadette, which includes visits to the Boly Mills where Bernadette was born; the Locale Mill, residence of her parents; the "Cachot," formerly used as a jail, where she lived at the time of the Apparitions; the Chapel where she received her First Holy Communion; and the Parish church containing the Font, where she was baptized. Dinner and overnight in Lourdes. (B, D) | | Day 7 | Lourdes | Lourdes : We continue delving into the life of St. Bernadette in the small village of Bartres, where she spent part of her childhood working as a shepherdess. Return to Lourdes with time for personal devotions including the Eucharistic Devotion and Procession. Tonight we are invited to participate in Rosary Candlelight Procession (if available). (B, D) | | Day 8 | New York | New York, NY : Depart for the Toulouse airport for the return flight to Lisbon where we connect to our homebound flight, arriving the same day. (B) Depart for Lisbon's airport this morning. Same day arrival into the U.S.A. |
